When the narrator returned from France he found a
letter from Strickland’s wife. She asked him to come to her house. Having come
in Strickland’s home, the narrator told Mrs. Strickland about her husband, that
he stood in a poor hotel and eat northing expect some bread and water. Charles
didn’t love her and didn’t want to care about of his children. He only wanted
to paint. 5 years ago the narrator moved to France from London and met his old
friend Stroeve who was glad to see him. When the narrator and Stroeve met Strickland,
Charles didn’t know the narrator. After a cup of coffee Charles remembered the
narrator and told with him until evening. During several days Stroeve and the
narrator know that Strickland was very ill. They went to his home and see him nearly dead.
Stroeve asked her wife to shelter Strickland and soon Charles recovered.
Stroeve went to the narrator’s home and told him that his wife left him.
